Software for Coiled Tubing Well Unloading Operations

Well unloading operations are performed to remove completion, workover, or produced fluids from the wellbore that prevent hydrocarbon production due to a hydrostatic fluid overbalance. The well is returned to production by pumping nitrogen through the coiled tubing to lighten the column of liquid in the wellbore. TubeFlow PIC provides the capability to model such coiled tubing well unloading operations (also referred to as "jetting").

A well unloading analysis in TubeFlow PIC provides the following features

  • coiled tubing or capillary string unloading 
  • nitrogen and foam fluids 
  • reservoir flow and pressure profiles obtained from mechanistic multiphase flow models
  • volume of nitrogen or foam required for well unloading
  • surface liquid volumes during unloading
  • maximum pump pressure 
  • minimum pump flow rates
